The Youngsters

Three young kings of strings: Moses Rosenberg, Giorgos Georgopoulos and Bojan Ivanovski, as per the initiative of the Guitar Art Festival, have gathered to form a new guitar supergroup: Kings of Strings – The Youngsters.

This trio of virtuosos made big moves on their first concert, held in March of 2019, where they fused four different music genres causing "The Gutter Revolution". Moses Rosenberg from Holland, member of the famous Rosenberg family, presented his jazz manouche style and music of Django Reinhardt. Giorgos Georgopoulos, the Greek virtuoso was on the bouzouki, and showed how he manages to completely escape the stereotype of the traditional sirtaki and rebetika styles. The multifaceted fingerstyle guitarist Bojan Ivanovski from Serbia displayed powerful rock riffs and lightning fast jazz passages, playing the most popular classical, rock and pop tunes.

The new kings of strings come from different musical and geographic backgrounds, from Greece to Holland, from bouzouki to Roma jazz, classical and rock. Through their collaboration on this project, these musicians fuse their differing backgrounds and experiences. Even though this is quite the challenge, the end result is fantastic – a great feeling which is undoubtedly transferred onto the audience.

Moses Rosenberg

Moses Rosenberg was born into the famous Rosenberg family, and is the younger brother of the acclaimed and virtuous Stochelo Rosenberg. Moses began playing the guitar at six years old, his teachers being his father Mimer, brother Stochelo and uncle Waso Grunholz. Waso is the founder of the Dutch Sinti jazz style, and so Moses got to learn from the very source of this now world famous musical tradition. At the age of 7 he was already playing with the Rosenberg Trio. Moses has performed at multiple international festivals, including the International Django festival in Samois-sur-Seine. He is one of the most striking acoustic musicians of our time, combining the traditional Dutch style with contemporary phrases.

Giorgos Georgeopoulos

Giorgos Georgeopoulos is practically synonymous for the bouzouki and Greek rebetika music. He attended his first music classes from the young age of nine, and was a member of many bands throughout his youth. Giorgos has constantly shaped his playing through different styles - from the strictly traditional forms and unusual rhythms of the South European regions, to the strong riffs of Al Di Meola. He has performed as a soloist on many famous orchestral concerts and festivals around the world including Germany, Croatia, Sweden, China, Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, England, Serbia etc. Giorgos is known for his experimental approach to both Greek and world music, especially within his own compositions.

Bojan Ivanovski

Bojan Ivanovski Jobby is one of the most multifaceted guitarists from the Balkans, who began his career as a classical guitarist – where he crafted his art to perfection. He graduated from the faculty of Musical Arts in Belgrade, Serbia and continued with his specialisation at the Francisco Tarrega academy in Italy, under the tutelage of professor Paola Pergorara. Bojan has been working as a studio musician for ten years, and has in this way been able to study and play many different electrical guitar styles. This experience served as the inspiration for his project titled 'A Whole New World', where Bojan fuses classical, jazz and rock electric guitar styles.

The concert program consists of 4 different musical genres.

Moses Rosenberg presents a genre dedicated to the manouche guitar in the jazz swing style, through both his own compositions and the music of Django Reinhardt.

Giorgos Georgopoulos is an ode to Greece, the Mediterranean and Balkan music in an etno style on the bouzouki; playing both his original compositions and covers of the most famous melodies from the Mediterranean and Balkan regions.

Bojan Ivanovski presents popular music where by playing with the fingerstyle technique, on an acoustic guitar, he performs his compositions as well as covers of the most famous pop and rock songs.

The fourth part of the program is a mix of the most popular melodies around the world (from classical music to rock&roll), with a special composition (for the encore) which may be slightly adapted to the city and country where the concert is taking place.
